Every
time I meet with my mentor or have a tutorial, I sit back and feel
overwhelmed with the volume of work there is to do or the prospect of
new avenues that have been discovered. Today is no different. My meeting
lasted an hour and I have left feeling slightly stressed. As I go
through this module, I am realising more and more, the amount of
information needed to know about charities and the different sections
within events organising that I need to be aware of.
I think I have been a bit ignorant to these topics and not quite
considered how complex they are. A lot more goes in to them than I
expected. These are all the sections I need to research in to before I
can begin to attempt a event of my own, which benefits charitable
organisations.
I
set aims for this meting in my last Blog and I am disappointed about
not sticking to them fully. An hour goes too fast, especially when
tangents are created and the conversation doesn't get directed back to
where it was. The point I didn't get round to discussing was the
questions I want to ask Mark. They are now something I will have to go
through again myself and revise if needed, as I'm not seeing my mentor
again until after my tutorial with Mark.

helped me to find a selection of books from the library collection
which could be of help to me. One of these being by Mark Webster called 'Finding Voices, Making Choices: Creativity for Social Change'. This could be a great help to me, as well as provide valuable questions for me to ask Mark in our tutorial.

Trying
to work out the new library system is a nightmare! I spent the best
part of an hour browsing shelves and pressing buttons to try and make
the columns move. In my search for the 3 recommended books though, I came across a couple of other ones, which caught my eye; 'The Charity Commission: Annual Report 02-03: Making a Difference'
Instead
of just writing down ideas I am gathering for events, I need to write
down where the idea generated from, if it has been used before; was it a
success, the pros and cons, and how I would develop it into a realistic
activity for my event. These are all things that need to be documented.

sent me an email with Mark Webster's Photo Voices notes attached to it,
so they will become useful for when I interview him on the 17th. I hope
I will have enough time to go through everything. If not, another
meeting needs to be set up for the closest possible date so I can
collect all the information I want.
In the email that Mark sent me, he asked me some questions that I need to answer before I meet up with him. I knew what my answers would be, but talking through them helped to clarify and expand on what I want to say. I can now confidently tell Mark what it is I am hoping to achieve , how I am documenting everything, what could be changed and how my placement on Fringe will benefit my MA assessment.
